Motherhood can be very overwhelming at times.
There are days when I feel quite satisfied, like I’m on top of things and the household is running smoothly. But there are also many other days when I feel so inadequate in my time, my energy level, my capacity to do it all.
That is when I’m reminded again and again, that hey – you don’t have to do it all.
Can I have a sigh of relief?
No matter what other mums say or portray, no matter what social media pressures mums to be, or no matter how we may have a preconceived notion that we need to be a do-it-all supermum, God says to you that that’s a big fat lie.
No one can do it all, sister.
What we can do is to focus on different things in different seasons of our lives, and God graciously helps us recognize what those priorities are.
Sometimes as mums, we try to meet so many needs. Our husbands, our children, our in-laws, our family, friends, our workplaces, the community around us, and so on.
It can get so exhausting, doesn’t it?
Sweet friend, let’s focus on the truth that God alone holds it all. Not us, and not anybody else. 🙂
And that’s such a relief to my soul.
Right now, in the midst of the mess of our everyday home life – the pile of laundry on the sofa can wait. The dishes in the sink can wait. The never-ending to-do list can wait.
Our moments with our children are so fleeting. Let’s capture them one by one, deep into our hearts and memories. For they are the everyday ordinary graces that God lavishly gives.
:::I called her name, she turned to look at me and her lips curled up a little. 🙂 The next moment, she was back to playing again.
Right in the mess, right where you are…there is so much beauty in your unique motherhood journey. 💗
Really, the dishes can wait. 😉
