For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
I hate disappointing people.
In fact, I used to pride myself on being able to meet the expectations of others, especially my bosses. I was one of those obedient workers, who was a rule-follower and a task-completer. Who wouldn’t mind such an employee? Haha. #selfpraiseisnopraise
But seriously, I was on the right track. I loved my job, I loved the people I worked with, I loved the clients and the opportunities that I got to make improvements in their lives.
That was my wonderful start to a good 7 years season with my organization, which I’m still grateful for today.
However, God prunes our hearts and tests our motives in a way that can sometimes be unexpected. So when He convicted me to leave my job in faith, it almost made no sense to anybody.
I was only recently promoted, there was no one suitable to replace me in such a short period of time, and my new Director was even looking to expand our Centre! All the odds looked stacked against me, and I knew it was going to be very tough explaining my decision to the management, especially my boss, who was the kindest and sweetest mentor and role model. I knew she would be taken aback and at a loss of what to do, since she was already leaving in order for me to take over her position.
It was a crazy decision.
But God does His thing anyway. 🙂
My boss (she is in blue in the above pic) has been the very reason I could thrive in my workplace, and now I am going to share with her the news that I am quitting??
Will I seek to please God, or continue to please people?
I asked friends for prayer covering, and prepared myself for the hard conversation the next day – 23 July 2014.
