1 John 4:19
We love because He first loved us.
Ringing in the New Year
I am crying as I type this. The gracious love of God is just overwhelming my soul right now as I recall these memories. I sincerely wish I could express adequately how much I long to share with everyone just how good He is because His love just convicts me every day. I pray my words do it justice.
You see, right down to the last day of 2014 – God never stops redeeming the pain.
On 31 December 2014, my Aunt met up with me for lunch. She said she had something important to give me, and as she handed me this Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo in the noisy food court, she said, “I dreamt that I bathed your baby. So in faith, I bought this because you’ll need it one day.“
I cried happy tears.
For I knew it was God speaking to me through her.
It gave my heart such a boost of encouragement, knowing that it is not the end, and God always has the last say – even on the last day of this painful year.
After the quick lunch, I came home to a tiny package sitting unassumingly on our dining room table. It was addressed to me, but I did not remember ordering anything.
Puzzled, I opened it carefully, and right before my eyes, was this pretty gold-plated ring! It was something I got on a whim on Etsy many weeks back, and I had completely forgotten about it! It fit my last finger so perfectly. 🙂
Later in the evening, Bren and I got ready to attend our church’s “Come Bless The Lord” Watchnight Service. It has been something we do every end of the year, and counting down to the new year with sisters and brothers in Christ has become something very special that we treasure. It has been a great blessing in our walk of faith.
Halfway through the worship songs, and fiddling with my new little ring, it just hit me like a ton of bricks – oh my, God really did give me a new ring! Just as He promised in the Word of Knowledge that He wanted to give me a new ring in exchange for the tarnished one, He really did!
Words do not fully express how ecstatic I was when I realized this amazing touch of love. God did not need to do this for me, after all – He is God! But yet He continually assures me that I am His Treasure and that He keeps His promises, including giving me a new ring!
That last day of 2014 was God’s redemption for all the heartache I went through before that. It was as if He was reminding my soul – do not despair, I love you and have a purpose for all of these. I am in control, and I will continue writing your faith story. I will redeem every part of your life.
His Promise Ring
Like a friend said after hearing my sharing, this ring was God’s Promise ring to me. His Word is true, and every promise will be fulfilled in His time and way. We will never understand the whole picture with our finite minds, but God sees it all. His ways are sometimes a mystery, and it does call for us to take that bold step of faith. But His grace carries us through. It was the perfect way to end the year and welcome 2015 with a fresh perspective on what is to come.
My soul cannot give enough praise and thanks. 🙂
