Have you heard of the Proverbs 31 Woman?
Let me give you a glimpse from the Bible:
“A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.”
Proverbs 31 Woman
The first time I read this passage, I was in awe of all the virtues of this Proverbs 31 Woman. There were so many excellent qualities mentioned that I had to ask God, “How do I become this Proverbs 31 Woman?”
Needless to say, I am still very far from what this passage describes. I still struggle with brokenness in relationships, I feel incapable of managing my home on many days, and if it makes you feel better too – I sometimes just want to veg out in front of the television and have some Ben & Jerry’s. Yup. Full disclosure.
But God is good, and He gently steers me in the direction that is good for me. 🙂 God’s Word never fails and is good for our soul. Though we may feel far from what Proverbs 31 depicts, it is a godly goal to work towards.
His daily grace is more than sufficient for us, and He provides great resources like this ebook to help us understand how to become more like the Proverbs 31 Woman:
31 Days to Becoming the Proverbs 31 Woman
This ebook “31 Days to Becoming the Proverbs 31 Woman” by Kim Strawn is an exceptional resource for anyone who desires to take that step to becoming more Christ-like. Kim helps us women by breaking it down into practical actions that we can do each day, and it is accompanied with encouragement based on her own experience as a Mum of 4.
It is an easy read, clear and to the point – but it is only in putting her wisdom into action that this book will make a difference in our own marriages and home-lives. Her sharing is very relatable to our daily homemaking grind and I felt as if my own heart’s motives were being pruned as I read her words. It definitely made me want to take each day of encouragement seriously and allow God to speak to me in the various areas of my life.
Living a life that honors God is not easy, but if we commit to it, our home-lives will bear fruit for God’s glory. Caring for the people that He has sovereignly placed in my life is a privilege that I do not want to be careless about.
my precious ones 🙂
I love this from pg. 24:
“The Supermom name gets a bad rap. How many women have you heard talk about not being Supermom? Just be “ourselves”. “No one” can do it all. No, we can’t do it all, Ladies, but we can work hard. I am going to go out on a limb and say we are “Supermoms”. (Even if most days we don’t feel like one!)
Do I dress myself with strength? What is the definition of strength? I do work hard for my household and I love taking care of my family.”
Isn’t it true that we get scared to use the word “supermom”? We get told that we should just relax and do what we can – which to a certain extent, that is true. But we need to also be careful not to allow ourselves to be lazy and end up living a purposeless life. It is a fine balance we have to tread, but by His grace, He will help us discern.
I think about it this way – why would we not be supermoms if we truly have our Super God in us? If we surrender our lives to His leading and allow Him to direct our days, every success that we have and all glory goes directly to Him. 🙂
There will definitely be days that overwhelm us and on those days our feelings may rule our actions. That is why it is so important that we keep spurring one another on in this motherhood and homemaking journey by anchoring ourselves in the Word of God.
Aren’t you so glad that God created a community for us to live in, so we can have the support of others, even through ebooks like this? I sure am.

To end off
Let me share an excerpt from her book (p.21):
“I encourage you to seek out ways to provide for your family. Remember, even the little things help and make a difference in your family’s life. I think in today’s world, providing for your family can sometimes sound negative instead of positive. It’s just “homemaking” they might say. They might say you can’t feel important or fulfilled staying at home. Don’t listen to the world. It is not JUST homemaking! Rising and making pancakes for breakfast, PBJ’s for their lunches and filling up their water bottles are ALL important tasks. Do things that matter in eternity. You are making a difference in your children’s lives. Change your mindset and realize your importance through these tasks.”
Now would you excuse me while I scoot off to eat my breakfast and clean my fridge. 😉
