So I was recently approached by Gaston Luga to take a look at their backpacks. They were very kind to offer a sponsorship, so I am thankful for this gift.
In full disclosure, I had never heard of them before this, so I wasn’t sure what to make of it. Intrigued, I went to check out their website. I scrolled and scrolled and ended up falling in love with their backpacks… *big heart eye emojis here*
Review: Gaston Luga backpack
My usual travelling companion is a medium-sized tote bag, simply because I like to dump, grab and go. That’s a Mama’s life, isn’t it? The disadvantage to that though, is that these tote bags are often without zips or any closure, so my inquisitive Ellie will be rummaging through them all the time. Seriously – she loves my bags! She would be getting things out throughout the car ride, especially when I’m travelling alone with her. With this though, she doesn’t open it as easily because the Gaston Luga backpack has a top leather flap with a magnetic closure and a pull-up strap which she doesn’t know how to navigate yet. Which is a plus for me!
There are so many designs to choose from, and I was originally considering the Classic range. But I felt it may be too big for my height (1.58cm), so I decided on a smaller design instead. The Classy Pink & Black is really cute, and I couldn’t resist the pink!
Loving my Gaston Luga backpack:
The interior has one 13″ laptop/A4 folder sleeve, as well as two smaller pockets. The exterior leather-rimmed pocket is right at the back and is meant for passports/tickets/cash, but on a regular day, I put my EZ link cards and keys in it so it’s very convenient. I wouldn’t say that you can pack up a storm in this bag, but the size is just right for a short outing with your little one.
If you’re just packing essentials for yourself, it has more than enough space for items like a notebook, umbrella, wallet, a bottle of water, etc. The metallic feet at the bag’s bottom helps to keep the bag sturdy and the bottom doesn’t get dirty as easily.
This is a Swedish brand, so the elegant Scandavinian minimalist design really appeals to me. I like things that are simple, classic, and girly, so this is pretty much perfect! This backpack is rather hardy so I reckon it’s going to be quite durable. The canvas is strong and the leather portions are stitched well.
The only issue I experienced was that I had to get used to using the pull-up strap to open up the bag whenever I needed to get something out. This is because I’m so used to carrying tote bags, so it’s nothing major, just something I realised. We are such creatures of habit!
(Disclosure: I was generously sponsored a backpack in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.)
If you are a bag lover like me and are willing to invest in good quality, beautifully made backpacks, you have to check out Gaston Luga’s website. I think you will drool like me. 😉
The best part of this post has to be a discount code that you can use! Just use “snuggles15” to get 15% off! It is always FREE shipping, and they use DHL express to ship so the backpack reaches you in only 2-3 days! You will also get 20% off as tax rebate (from non-EU country) so the reductions really add up.
Refer to this example for reference:
You know what my favourite bit is? This discount code has NO expiry date! Whee. This means you can save up and decide when the best time is to invest in this backpack! I thought that was a very generous gesture.
Get it for yourself, or as a gift to someone you love. I believe it will be very well-received, especially if it is used for travels. I look forward to using it in our upcoming holidays!
